In 2019-2020 I was an adjunct professor for two courses in Location Intelligence Program at North Park University in Chicago, IL. I taught the capstone course and a course on GIS web app development. In both of my courses, I focused on pairing students with technical skills and practical professional skills. In the capstone course, for example, I asked students to meet with geospatial professionals to network and gain an understanding of the field. I also worked with students to develop a personal value proposition, similar to what I do in my coaching work. My hope was that my students came from my classes with an understanding of how their classroom knowledge will translate to the workplace– making them both better students today by understanding the application of their work and making them better employees in the future.
Due to low-enrollment North Park decided to end the major and so my courses were no longer being offered.
