PR Power Restoration

Dashboard of PR

In January and July 2018 I deployed to Puerto Rico as GIS Team Lead for the Power Recovery effort.  I lead our team in moving from an ad-hoc data production unit to a unified team with clear data standards, processes, and programs for processing data.

One example is our viewer.   While the viewer was initially developed by another individual, I lead the effort in creating and displaying new data that would meet the needs of our users.  Furthermore,  I developed tools using python and model builder to reduce an 8-hour data update process to 30 minutes.

I also developed a visualization, called the cow map (below), which took information on the energization of distribution lines and showed the energization levels of the areas served by those lines.  This product was then used to show progress in storm recovery and was shared with local partners who could not have access to the underlying distribution line data.
